So its gotten pretty cold at night lately and due to a accident Twinkie has a hole in his big lime green blankie, so we've had to double layer him with the blankie in the picture and his lime green blankie. Last winter the arena flooded a lot making it hard to ride and Twinkie went out of shape because of this, this year im gonna do everything in my power to make sure that doesn't happen, hopefully if the arena floods one day it will all drain to the edges making the middle safe enough to ride in and on days its not I can still walk around in it with him doing lots of bending work. I wanna look into bit warmers, if they even make them, or I'll make something that I can leave wrapped around his bit until I use it, everytime I go to grab his bit I have to try and warm it up because its ice cold, and know one wants a big piece of cold steele in their mouth or around their teeth. Don't really have much to put here right now just felt like updating.

Twinkie update!!
So its been awhile since I updated. Twinkie is officially off barrels and gymkhana for now at least but I'm pretty sure it COULD turn into a permanent thing I don't know, we'll see how things go. His last show was a couple weeks ago at a gymkhana and we buckled :] . I'm in the middle of finding Twinkie a new farrier. He's completely healed up from our fall awhile back now. Today we went and took a 'cutting' lesson with a trainer in gilroy. It was fun we worked on a fake cow, then worked on some real cow. Twinkie does most of it himself but not quite all of it, we've decided he'd do great in reined cow horse events, which is fine by me because that's some fun stuff. Hopefully I'll continue getting lessons with this trainer. I finally got a standard tail bag for Twinkie and have been successful with it, he hasn't been able to break it or get his tail out of it. His coat has already gotten pretty long and I know its gonna get longer unfortunately. I'm trying to bathe him as much as possible on warmer days since its started to get colder....well like every other week, like I said before I'm probably gonna end up clipping him. Other than that we haven't had any issues and everything's going great, going to a vet clinic on the 30th for annual shots and to get his teeth done.

Finally
Heres a pic from the other day.(Dates Wrong)
Went out to the ranch last night, the proud flesh on Twinkies knee is gone and its healed enough so I can finally stop wrapping it everyday. Also he's broken two of my tails bags now, the ones you separate the hair into three parts of it and braid it up their tail then tie it, so imma go out and get a normal tail bag and tie it into his braided tail hopefully he wont find a way to get that off and break it to. Another thing is he is already getting extremely hairy, every time I go out which is every night he seems hairy-er, we've barely had any cold days! Guaranteed im probably gonna have to clip him this winter. I rode last night but it was just that, we didnt work on much of anything just did lots of circles, so not much to say about it, and it was to cold to wash his tail last night, which sucks im trying to get that thing whiter!

The Way Bueno Intro
Way Bueno AKA Twinkie, is a 2000, palomino reined cow horse gelding out of Master Jay and Buena Seca. from Sterling Ranch in Texas. I've owned him since May 8th, 2008. I don't know of his whole showing career but he did show in Reining by the bay 2006 and The National Reining Breeders Classic as a four and or/Five year old. Also I had been told a previous owner used him a lot on cows. Twinkie is a sensitive horse and takes a lot of things personal, he doesn't like being punished and definitely remembers when he does get punished and doesn't forget for awhile. He's definitely a horse that wants to please and wants to do good and gives 100% at everything he does. This blog will just be updates on how he is doing, what he is doing, what we're working on, ect.
